Lists and quotes need a space after the symbol, and each item goes on a new line.
Format without symbols
On most phones you can also select text while typing and choose Bold, Italic, Strikethrough or Monospace from the pop-up menu (on iPhone, tap the Format or BIU option).
Combine formats
You can stack styles, for example *_bold italic_*. Make sure the symbols are closed in reverse order.
Formatting tips for business messages
- Bold the single most important line, such as the offer or deadline.
- Use strikethrough for price drops:
~$49~ *$29*. - Use monospace for coupon codes and order IDs so they’re easy to copy.
- Use short bulleted lists for product benefits.
- Don’t overdo it: one or two styles per message reads best.
